Anesthesiology is a dynamic discipline that includes both the scientific and artistic aspects of medicine. An anesthesiologist should not only have an in-depth understanding of physiology, pharmacology and bedside practices, but also be able to make quick and accurate decisions while keeping patient safety at the highest level. The anesthesiologist protects the patient against all the negative effects of surgery by providing appropriate management in organ systems, and protects the surgical team in a sense by taking the necessary precautions against undesirable developments in the patient’s current condition caused by the practices of the surgical team. This critical role is not limited to the operating room, but is also carried out effectively in procedures outside the operating room in an ever-expanding scope. In intensive care processes, each anesthesiologist works effectively in one-to-one follow-up and treatment. Today, the anesthesia team also undertakes important tasks in different fields such as interventional radiology, gastroenterology and cardiology to ensure patient safety and comfort.

This book aims to address anesthesia practice from a multidisciplinary perspective by detailing it through organ systems. As the title of this book suggests, we aim to provide a quick and comprehensive overview of anesthesia and reanimation. By systematically covering the cornerstones of the field, we have brought together information that will strengthen clinical practice.

An important aspect of this book is that it not only conveys theoretical knowledge but also includes case management specific to clinical practice. The effects of anesthetic management on organ systems are examined in detail, and the approach to be adopted for each system in different patient groups is explained. How anesthesia management is shaped in surgical and medical scenarios, the challenges that may be encountered in specific clinical situations and evidence-based solutions to these challenges are discussed. In the content of the book, special emphasis is placed on the process of patient assessment before anesthesia, and this critical stage of patient management is covered in detail. Practices performed before, during and after anesthesia, potential problems encountered and effective solution approaches to these problems are presented in a systematic manner. In addition, anesthesia equipment and auxiliary diagnostic and therapeutic tools are comprehensively described, providing guidance for clinical practice.

During the preparation process of the book, expert section editors and the main editor have meticulously evaluated the content, and each chapter has been shaped in the light of current literature and organized to meet both academic and clinical needs. Thus, it is aimed to create a practical and reliable resource that appeals to both anesthesia residents in training and experienced clinicians.
