Molar incisor hypomineralisation (MIH) is a developmental, qualitative enamel defect that affects children worldwide and is recognized as a global health concern. Its most distinctive feature is the presence of demarcated opacities resulting from enamel hypomineralization. In severe cases, these lesions may cause post-eruptive breakdown, atypical caries, pain, and dental hypersensitivity. MIH was initially described as involving only the first permanent molars and incisors; however, recent studies indicate that it may affect any primary or permanent tooth. From an epidemiological standpoint, MIH is considered the most frequent enamel defect, with prevalence rates ranging from 0.5% to 40.2% globally. In Türkiye, its prevalence has been reported at 7.7-25%. Over the past two decades, numerous papers have been published in response to the growing demand for more information on MIH and a deeper understanding of its nature. Despite this abundance of research, comprehensive resources addressing every facet of MIH remain limited. In light of this need, my colleague, Dr. Deniz Yanık Nalbantoğlu, and I have prepared this book to provide a thorough exploration of MIH for our readers.

We extend our sincere appreciation to all authors who contributed to this book, as their efforts and expertise have made this publication possible.
