Abutments, considered as a fundamental component of implant-supported fixed prosthetic restorations, and producible using various techniques and materials, have become widely utilized in traditional prosthesis manufacturing procedures, particularly for dental implants, focusing on practicality and a digital workflow beneficial for patients through CAD/CAM systems. Titanium base (Ti-base) abutments have gained significant popularity in prosthetic dentistry for combining durability with aesthetic qualities in abutments. Additionally, in implant-supported prostheses, minimizing stress on the implant and surrounding bone is desired. Therefore, passive fit is also crucial, as reflected in the prepared information.

The aim of this book is to provide comprehensive information about materials, mechanical and surface properties, cementation procedures, misfit and torque loss, and clinical performances achievable with Ti-base abutments. In vitro studies have demonstrated that Ti-base abutments exhibit high fracture resistance, especially when used with resin cement, adequate retention values, and good marginal and internal fit. While clinical evaluations of Ti-base abutments are limited, shortterm assessments have shown comparable performance, especially in the anterior and premolar regions, to traditional abutments. Ti-base abutments can be considered as a viable treatment option for the restoration of dental implants.

This study has been conducted collaboratively with experts in the field. The aim of this book, which we hope will be beneficial to readers and contribute to approaches in Dental Education, is to remind particularly the current approaches regarding the subject. I extend my infinite thanks to the valuable academic colleagues who dedicated their time, provided meticulous contributions, and supported me in this regard during the preparation of this book.
