It is my great pleasure to have the opportunity to present this book with the topic of Placenta Accreta Spectrum, as its editor. This work aims to highlight the critical importance of placenta accreta spectrum (PAS) disorders, particularly in terms of maternal morbidity and mor- tality, which have become increasingly prevalent in recent years with the rising trend of caserean deliveries globally representing one of the most dangerous condition of pregnancy and is fundamental to address- ing the challenges it presents in modern obstetric care.

In this book, we provide comprehensive information on the epide- miology, etiopathogenesis, and risk factors associated with PAS. Our target audience is perinatologists and obstetricians who are actively working in the field. We emphasize the significance of accurate diag- nosis criteria, including those applicable in the later half of pregnancy early pregnancy, alongside new ultrasonographic findings.

We also emphasize the importance of preoperative diagnosis in the management of PAS. This book discusses clinical management strate- gies during early and advanced stages of pregnancy, highlighting the importance of conducting such management in specialized centers.

As being an obstetric emergency with potentially mortal results for inexperienced obstetricians in this condition who may encounter un- expected PAS cases during cesarean sections-especially those without preoperative diagnosis-we provide clear guidance on what to do and, just as importantly, what not to do for optimal maternal outcome.

Additionally, this book underscores the necessity of a multidisci- plinary approach, with the examples of incorporating perspectives from hematology and anesthesiology, to ensure comprehensive care for PAS patients.

A significant aspect of this work is that all the videos, images, and illustrations included are original products of our Perinatology Depart- ment. This unique feature underscores the practical, real-world rele- vance of the content presented.

Finally, I extend my deepest gratitude to the contributing authors and co-editors; Dr. Sadun Sucu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Burak Bayraktar and Dr. Zeynep Şeyhanlı, who are also active members of the PAS team in our Perinatology Department.
