Dear colleagues,

Although childhood mastocytosis is not rare, it has remained a disease that is not well known by pediatricians and pediatric allergists. It is only thought to be urticaria pigmentosa and other subtypes are almost unknown. As far as we know, it is one of the first books written by pediatric allergists and Turkish physicians in the international arena.

Considering this responsibility, we have tried to create a good reference book covering all areas of diagnosis and treatment of childhood mastocytosis (cutaneous mastocytosis: CM) with a total of 27 authors and 22 chapters. We aim to make this disease, which is orphaned in terms of diagnosis and treatment, better known and treated with this book, which we hope to be a reference source.

There are books, book chapters and reviews on mastocytosis written by adult dermatologists and allergists on childhood mastocytosis. In this book, 3 separate sections and a total of 22 separate chapters under these sections, this skin disease is discussed in the light of current literature data.

In the first section of the book, Childhood Mastocytosis will be introduced and the basics of the disease will be discussed in different chapters. In the 6 chapters under this part, the pathogenesis, epidemiology, precipitating factors and types of the disease will be discussed.

The second section of this book will cover the definition, diagnosis and clinical perspectives of the disease. The 6 chapters in this part cover diagnostic criteria, differential diagnosis, clinical differences between CM and systemic mastocytosis, comorbidities, prognosis, follow-up in CM and other considerations.

In the third section of the book, multidisciplinary treatment approaches and some special clinical problems will be discussed. The treatment of CM and innovations in treatment, drug allergy, venom allergy, nutrition and food allergy in CM, treatment risks and management of anaphylaxis in CM, management of multidisciplinary approaches in CM, hypogammaglobulinemia, vaccination, psychosocial effects and quality of life of these patients under support will be discussed.
