Primary immunodeficiencies (PIDs) are a heterogeneous group of disorders characterized by congenital defects in the immune system. These diseases are not limited to a predisposition to recurrent and treatment-resistant infections but may also present with autoimmunity, malignancy, and various inflammatory complications. Among the most commonly affected systems in PID patients is the respiratory system. Respiratory tract infections, bronchiectasis, interstitial lung diseases, and other pulmonary complications are leading causes of morbidity and mortality in these patients.

This book has been prepared to comprehensively present the clinical spectrum of pulmonary pathologies observed in primary immunodeficiencies, to detail diagnostic approaches, and to offer management strategies through a multidisciplinary perspective. The content begins with fundamental principles of the immune system and proceeds to cover the pulmonary manifestations commonly encountered in PID patients, advanced imaging and diagnostic methods, current therapeutic strategies, and follow-up protocols in detail. Furthermore, the book is intended to serve as a practical guide in clinical settings, underpinned by up-to-date literature.

This work aims to serve as a current and comprehensive resource for healthcare professionals working in the fields of clinical immunology, pulmonology, infectious diseases, pediatrics, and internal medicine, as well as for all those involved in the care of patients with immune system disorders. Considering the vital importance of early diagnosis and appropriate treatment in primary immunodeficiencies, effective management of pulmonary complications is crucial for improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
