Trauma continues to be one of the leading causes of disability and death in children worldwide. The management of critically ill children who have suffered trauma must be multidisciplinary. Optimal management children with trauma involves rapidly assessing and resuscitating patients, determining priorities of care, arranging multiple diagnostic tests and therapeutic interventions. On the other hand complications should be minimized. The goal of the management is to achieve the best possible functional outcome for the trauma patient. There are currently limited number of books which only devoted to the critical care management of trauma patients in pediatric intensive care unit. This book was set up for all clinicians who are involved in managing trauma patients in the pediatric intensive care unit. The topics were presented in practically oriented chapters which describe how to successfully treat a range of injuries across a variety of anatomical areas. Each chapter was composed to provide recommendations on rapid assessment, initial stabilization and management strategies of trauma patient.
