ABSTRACT
Although the upper respiratory tract anatomically consists of the nose, paranasal sinuses, nasopharynx, oropharynx, and larynx, its infections cannot be distinguished so sharply. Viruses are the most common cause of upper respiratory tract infections. Unnecessary antibiotic use is common, since the symptoms are similar to the symptoms of bacterial infections in most cases. The primary diagnosis for most childhood antibiotic use is an upper respiratory tract infection. Antibiotic resistance, which is increasing and becoming widespread in our country and around the world, increases the importance of preventing unnecessary and inappropriate antibiotic prescriptions by paying attention to the rational use of antibiotics in upper respiratory tract infections.
