ABSTRACT
Cyanosis is the blue discoloration of the skin and mucous membranes as a result of a reduced Hg level in capillary blood above 5 g/dl. Cyanosis in neonates can arise from various etiologies, necessitating prompt differentiation and management to address potentially life-threatening conditions. Neonatal heart failure is a critical cardiac emergency in newborns, characterized by a range of cardiac abnormalities that result in compromised heart contraction, impaired blood filling, or impaired blood ejection. Heart failure can manifest in a diverse range of findings, and the timing of these presentations may vary across several days after birth. The achievement of desirable outcomes can be enhanced through the prompt identification of heart failure and aggresive treatment.
