ABSTRACT

The increasing number of older people, complex multiple fractures, and rheumatological conditions have led to an increase in the use of total elbow arthroplasty in recent years. Total elbow arthroplasty is somewhat contraindicated in cases of insufficient tendon in the triceps. Furthermore, the triceps tendon becomes nonfunctional due to olecranon nonunions. Regarding the union of the osteotomy line following osteotomy and the fixation of the ulnar component in distal intra-articular humeral fractures, there are serious concerns. This technique provides an excellent view of difficult intra-articular fractures, but for these reasons, most surgeons steer clear of it. Despite this information, olecranon osteotomy is frequently used for fixation of distal humeral intra-articular fractures. Total elbow arthroplasty is a reliable method to solve the problems of inappropriate fixation or nonunion and is used for rapid recovery of function.
