ABSTRACT
Benign EEG variants; are clinically non-specific EEG waves which are uncommon and not considered abnormal. These waves, which may be confusing and often resembling epileptiform patterns, may sometimes form complex wave structures or sometimes occur as isolated harmonic waves. Breach rhythm, Mu rhythm, rhythmic midtemporal discharge, 14 and 6 Hz positive spikes, lambda waves, small sharp spikes of sleep, subclinical rhythmic electrographic discharges of adults and midline theta rhythm are counted among these waves. These waves, which were previously thought to be pathological, are no longer considered as epileptiform patterns.
