ABSTRACT
Although climate change affects a large part of the population with threats to public health, studies on mental health consequences remain relatively insufficient. The effects of climate change on mental health at different timing vary widely. In addition, climate change affects different population groups more, which are directly exposed to climate change, have more disadvantaged geographical conditions, lack access to resources, and have phsychiatric and mental illnesses. The American Psychiatric Association (APA) issued a statement in 2017 that climate change “poses a threat to public health, including mental health” and emphasized that those with mental health disorders will be disproportionately affected by the consequences of climate change. At this point, climate change is expected to put increasing pressure on psychiatric services, and planning for vulnerable populations and high-risk areas will need to be given particular attention in the coming period.
