ABSTRACT
For term, late-preterm, and extremely preterm babies to smoothly move from the fluid filled environment to the extrauterin environment filled with air, the newborn’s care in the delivery room is crucial. The majority of babies can make this transition without support and continue the adaptation process in the maternity ward. But providing optimal support to babies in need requires training, experience, preparation, and teamwork. Delivery room care includes umbilical cord management, protecting the baby from hypo/hyperthermia, routine care for stable babies born at 35 weeks of gestation with effective respiratory effort, initial ventilation, and advanced resuscitation interventions if needed. This can have long-lasting effects on the baby and the family, depending on how unstable babies are handled in the delivery room. Therefore, in order to achieve optimal results, neonatal resuscitation is a challenging and critical procedure that requires careful preparation, quick judgment, and well-managed team dynamics.
