ABSTRACT
A common pathogenesis in delayed facial paralysis has not revealed yet but although controversial, some key points such as viral reactivation and edema has been reported or revealed in the current literature. The majority of cases with delayed facial paralysis responds to conservative and/or medical therapy and recovers at a high rate. Surgical intervention should not be rushed and should be treated especially according to the results of electrophysiological studies. Especially the results obtained from ENoG studies taken within 3 weeks following the onset of paralysis are very important and if the degeneration is ≥90%, surgical intervention should be performed without waiting.
