ABSTRACT

In dental practice, local anesthesia is a fundamental method of pain control used in caries removal, restorative procedures, pulpal and periodontal treatments, tooth extractions, and minor surgical in terventions. local anesthetics inhibit sodium ion flow in nerve branches, leading to regional sensory loss. This eliminates pain perception and helps reduce anxiety and fear, fostering trust between the patient and the dentist. Dentists are responsible for selecting the safest, minimally invasive, and most effective anesthetic technique based on the treatment requirements. The appearance of the dental sy ringe used in traditional local anesthesia and the pain felt during the injection of the anesthetic solution cause local anesthesia to be among the most feared and anxious situations during dental procedures in patients. Although local anesthesia in dentistry continues to play an important role in pain control, research and development of less uncomfortable and more effective methods are essential to improve clinical success and patient satisfaction. Therefore, interdisciplinary collaboration and the develop ment of new technologies are necessary to control pain and improve the patient experience. With the technological advances that have developed over time, digital applications, which are an alternatives to traditional diagnosis and treatment methods, are now among the routine procedures in the field of dentistry. Digital dentistry is a modern dentistry approach in which, unlike traditional methods, dental treatment processes are supported by digital technologies. This method involves the use of digital tools in diagnosis, planning, production, and treatment processes. Digital dentistry provides a revolutionary transformation in dentistry practice by offering more precise, faster, and patientcentered solutions. Digital applications have also been used to control pain associated with local anesthesia, which is one of the fundamentals of dental practice, and to minimize patient discomfort. In recent years, in addition to traditional methods, innovative technologies such as computercontrolled local anesthesia applica tions, electronic dental anesthesia, vibration local anesthesia, and jet injection have been used. These technologies aim to reduce the painful nature of the injection and provide a more comfortable experi ence before dental procedures. Research focuses on innovations in local anesthetics, delivery devices, and techniques to improve patient comfort and minimize side effects.
