ABSTRACT

Digital tools and applications are extensively used in dentistry today. Therefore, the trend of digitaliza tion and current developments in dental education should be considered when preparing future dentists for their daily professional practices. Digitalization has the potential to revolutionize all areas of dental education. In the future, more interactive and intuitive learning opportunities will emerge, provid ing students with motivating, enjoyable, and meaningful educational experiences. Currently, digital dentistry education spans various teaching areas, including online knowledge transfer, digital surface mapping, and specialized technologies, such as dental simulator motor skills, intraoral scanning, and digital radiography. Furthermore, Augmented Reality/virtual Reality (AR/vR) technology is anticipat ed to play a crucial role in the future development of dental education. In this context, it is essential to establish universally recognized standards for digital education. This chapter aims to evaluate the role of digitalization in contemporary dental education.
