ABSTRACT

Earthquakes are seismic events that occur as a result of natural movements in the Earth’s crust. These natural events, which occur frequently in Türkiye as well as around the world, can cause both tens of thousands of deaths and significant economic damages. This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the impacts of earthquakes in both the world and Türkiye, and to present in detail the challenges encountered during and after earthquakes.
