Exogen Enzymes: Phytase

ABSTRACT
Poultry diets, which is mostly consisted of plant based feedstuffs and the total phosphorus consists of 50-80% phytate P. poultry can not break down phytic acid and not utilise phytate phosphorus due to the absence of phytase enzyme in their gastrointestinal system. Because of that, phytic acid has antinutritional effect on protein and carbohydrate as well as P availability in poultry. Thus, expensive and non-renewable nonphytate (inorganic) phosphorus sources like DCP, MCP should be included in poultry diets. On the one hand, undigested phytate phosphorus excreted by animals in their faeces may cause environmental pollution. Use of phytase enzyme in poultry feed will seize the antinutritional effects of phytate, decrease environmental, environmental pollution, increase availability of starch, protein, amino acids and calcium as well as P and remove the surplus addition of inorganic phosphate in poultry feed.
