ABSTRACT

Facial feminization surgeries are comprehensive and multifaceted aesthetic procedures designed to align individuals’ external appearances with their identified gender during the gender affirmation process. By thoughtfully addressing the masculine or feminine features of a person’s face, these surgeries enable individuals to feel at ease with their bodies. The results significantly enhance self-confidence, improve psychosocial well-being, and promote societal acceptance. Facial feminization encompasses a wide range of intricate surgical procedures, including hairline correction, forehead reshaping, rhinoplasty, and jaw surgeries facelifts.

These procedures emphasize treating the face as an integrated whole to achieve a harmonious appearance. For instance, hairline correction is essential for creating softer facial contours and a natural look. Forehead reshaping procedures address the more prominent frontal bone structures in males, softening them to achieve proportional harmony around the eyes. Rhinoplasty plays a vital role in feminization by sculpting a more delicate and refined nasal appearance, often involving tip refinement, dorsal reduction, and nostril reshaping.

Jaw surgeries target the lower third of the face to promote a more feminine look. A feminine jawline is characterized by softer angles and less prominent mandibular contours. Additionally, facelifts rejuvenate the overall facial structure, particularly by addressing signs of aging in the midface region, contributing to a youthful and dynamic appearance.

All these procedures require meticulous preoperative planning tailored to individual needs. The surgeries aim to ensure that the various components of the face blend seamlessly, creating a cohesive and natural appearance. For transgender individuals, facial feminization surgeries are crucial in their journey to embrace their new gender identity. These procedures demand expertise in both aesthetic and craniofacial surgery, and their successful execution significantly enhances individuals’ physical and emotional well-being.
