ABSTRACT
The facial nerve (FN), which is the 7th cranial nerve, is a multifunctional nerve with a very complex course.Treatment of pathologies closely related to the FN may lead to disfiguring facial complications. Therefore, clinicians need a thorough understanding of the anatomy and physiological aspects of the FN, so that such complications can be avoided. This article aims to review the microsurgical anatomy and physiological aspects of the FN.
