ABSTRACT
The face is a part of the body where many diseases with positive motor symptoms can be seen. Their etiologies can be as different as their clinical manifestations. The following sections contain the most common diseases in which involuntary facial movements are the main symptoms. ‘Post-facial Synkinesia Syndrome’, which is a clinical picture shaped by synkinetic co-activation of the muscles in the symptomatic half of the face and involuntary contractions of the muscles innervated by the facial nerve after a previous peripheral facial palsy; ‘Hemifacial Spasm’ shaped by involuntary, irregular, paroxysmal contraction of facial nerve innervated muscles in one half of the face and dystonias observed on the face are discussed.
