ABSTRACT
Artificial Intelligence has emerged as a transformative force in gastrointestinal surgery, offering innovative solutions to improve diagnostic precision, surgical outcomes, and personalized care. This chapter explores the future perspectives and challenges associated with the integration of AI in GI surgery. Key advancements include the adoption of AI for personalized treatment planning, real-time intraoperative data integration, and the evolution toward autonomous and collaborative AI systems. These technologies aim to enhance surgical precision, minimize complications, and streamline workflows. However, their implementation faces significant challenges, including ethical concerns, algorithmic biases, data privacy issues, and cost barriers. Overcoming these obstacles requires multidisciplinary collaboration, robust regulatory frameworks, and inclusive datasets to ensure equitable access to AI-driven surgical care. The synergy of AI and human expertise promises to shape a future where GI surgery becomes safer, more effective, and tailored to individual patient needs.
