ABSTRACT

Gliomas are brain tumors that arise from glial cells and account for 80% of all malignant brain tumors. Glioblastoma multiforme (GBM), the most aggressive form, attracts attention with its treatment-resistant nature and its prognosis is generally poor. Glioblastoma is a type of cancer that be- gins in brain or spinal cord cells. It is a primary type of cancer that originates from astrocytes. GBM can grow rapidly and spread throughout the brain. This can lead to ongoing functional loss and increased intracranial pressure. It can cause headaches, seizures, personality changes and psychological fluctua- tions. Additionally, complications secondary to treatment may develop. In this context, understanding the biochemical mechanisms of gliomas and developing nutritional strategies and therapeutic approaches are currently a subject of intense research. Ketogenic diet has been used in the treatment of various dis- eases, especially glioblastomas, and there are many studies in the literature.
