ABSTRACT
Ichthyoses are a heterogeneous group of diseases characterized by epidermal desquamation disorders accompanied with xerosis of varying severity, hyperkeratosis and/or scaling. In an international panel (Sorèze Ichthyosis Consensus Conference) held in 2009 a unified nomenclature and classification system was adopted, ichthyosis is divided into two: non-syndromic ichthyosis, that is, ichthyosis in which phenotypic features are observed only on the skin, and syndromic ichthyosis, in which other organ systems are also affected. Herein major headlines in congenital ichthyoses are discussed in clinical, diagnostic and therapeutic aspects.
Keywords: Ichthyoses; Congenital; Genodermatose; Xerosis; Ichthyosis vulgaris; Lamellar ichthyosis
