ABSTRACT Acute medical conditions require prompt decision-making and rapid implementation to prevent increased mortality and morbidity. Dermatological emergencies often arise from primary skin diseases or are associated with underlying systemic conditions and infections. Although these emergencies are less common compared to other medical fields, they can pose serious life-threatening risks, lead to high mortality rates, and significantly impact the quality of life. In many cases, hospitalization or intensive care unit support is necessary. Conditions such as urticaria and angioedema, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epi- dermal necrolysis, toxic shock syndrome, erythroderma, pruritic urticarial papules and plaques of pregnancy, autoimmune bullous diseases, acute graft-versus-host disease, scalded skin syndrome, and necrotizing cellulitis are considered dermatological emergencies. The accurate identification of dermatological emergencies is crucial for timely medical intervention, reducing mortality and morbidity, and preventing unnecessary consultations, treatments, costs, and time loss in non-emergency cases.
