ABSTRACT
This article discusses the diagnosis, clinical features, and treatment methods of coarctation of the aorta (CoA). CoA accounts for 5-8% of congenital heart diseases and can lead to severe cardiovascular complications if untreated. Advanced imaging techniques such as echocardiography, cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR), and computed tomography play a crucial role in diagnosis. Treatment options include surgical intervention, balloon angioplasty, and stent implantation. While surgery is preferred in pediatric patients, stenting is the primary approach in adults. Stent types include open-cell, closedcell, and hybrid stents, with the Cheatham-Platinum (CP) stent being the only FDA-approved stent for CoA treatment. Long-term follow-up is essential to monitor complications such as reintervention needs and aneurysm formation. This study provides an in-depth review of CoA diagnosis and treatment approaches based on current literature.
