ABSTRACT
Immunological diseases are caused by defects in one or more components of the immune system or by abnormal, excessive and uncontrolled immune responses. Immunological diseases comprise a clinically heterogeneous group of disorders. Recent investigations have examined the potential relationship between immunological diseases and molar-incisor hypomineralization. Although research in this area remains limited, several studies have demonstrated significant associations between these conditions. Given that dental cells are fundamental to human physiology and systemic conditions during childhood affect developing cells, immunological diseases may potentially impact ameloblasts, the cells responsible for enamel formation. Recognition of the potential connection between dental defects, particularly molar-incisor hypomineralization, and immunological diseases among healthcare professionals could promote a more integrated, multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Inter-professional collaboration is essential for early diagnosis and implementation of strategies to minimize dental sensitivity and discomfort, thereby enhancing patients long-term oral health outcomes and overall quality of life.
