ABSTRACT
Molar incisor hypomineralization (MIH) is a developmental disorder caused by insufficient mineralization of enamel, commonly observed in children. It affects both dental and periodontal health indirectly. The fragility and sensitivity of enamel can lead to neglect of oral hygiene, promoting plaque accumulation and increasing the risk of gingivitis. Surface irregularities caused by Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization create favorable conditions for microbial retention, further elevating the risk of gingivitis and periodontal disease. The materials and techniques used during restorative treatment also play a critical role in periodontal health. Subgingival restoration margins can enhance plaque accumulation, negatively impacting periodontal tissues. A multidisciplinary approach and regular follow-ups are crucial in the treatment of patients with Molar-Incisor Hypomineralization. Additionally, AI-supported applications and technology-based educational methods can improve oral hygiene management, thereby enhancing the quality of life for affected patients.
