ABSTRACT
The observation that the modern times are an age of narcissism has been articulated by many psychologists, sociologists, and philosophers. The personality traits unique to narcissistic personality disorder has spread almost across the entire population. So much so that even in people considered psychically ”normal or healthy”, the personality traits of narcissistic pathology are visibly evident, albeit in much less severe forms. Moreover, this epidemic is not only confined to the psychic sphere. It has infiltrated virtually every aspect of social body and has become the dominant subjectivity dictating the basic functioning in many areas. For this reason, narcissism has become a popular concept for understanding mental health and the whole spectrum of psychopathology, human nature and behavior, cultural life and social movements, and has been taken up by many professionals from different fields as a key concept that allows for philosophical expansions, artistic creativity and interdisciplinary transitions.
