ABSTRACT
Vagus nerve stimulation involves a commonly implanted medical device used to deliver electrical impulses to the vagus nerve. It is used as an additional treatment method in patients with drugresistant epilepsy, but also studies are being carried out to treat different diseases such as obesity, Alzheimer’s, chronic pain, chronic alcoholism and heart failure. It is stated that this method, applied with a multidisciplinary approach, successfully reduces the frequency of seizures in epilepsy patients. Nurses, who are important and integral members of the multidisciplinary team, are responsible for the preparation of patients and their relatives for the procedure, post-procedure patient care, management of complications, preparation of patients and their relatives for the home care process, etc. Nurses also work in the operating room during the procedure.
