ABSTRACT
Laboratory animals are frequently used in studies in the fields of biology and health sciences because they provide the closest results to actual results. Parasites are organisms that live dependent on other organisms and harm the organism in which they live. If necessary precautions are not taken, laboratory animals, like all animals, are susceptible to both internal and external parasitic infections. Such situations frequently result in financial loss and waste of time. Additionally, it may have a negative impact on experimental study outcomes. The most popular laboratory animals, mice, rats, rabbits, hamsters, gerbils, chinchillas, and guinea pigs, are known to harbor numerous parasitic illnesses used in both human and veterinary care. It is critical that these animals are parasite-free for their own health and welfare as well as the advancement of research. Since there is a wide range of parasitic diseases in laboratory animals, this review focuses on the important diseases.
