ABSTRACT

Partner violence is one of the most common forms of interpersonal violence that occurs in romantic or sexual relationships. While it is a significant issue for individuals of all gender identities, transgender women experience this violence in more complex and severe forms. Beyond their biological sex, transgender women face a unique experience of violence shaped by the denial of their gender identity, discrimination, and gender norms. This situation can make them victims of partner violence and the nature of the violence extends beyond physical and psychological harm, often inflicting deeper wounds by targeting their identity.
