ABSTRACT
Facial nerve is the seventh cranial nerve. Infections, demyelinating diseases, vascular malformations and neoplasms can involve the facial nerve and present as facial palsy clinically. Rarely demyelinating diseases’ presenting symptom can be facial palsy which is important to be aware of in order to make a correct diagnosis. Facial nerve tumors are rare, schwannoma being the most common primary tumor. Secondary tumors, most importantly malignant parotid tumors frequently involve the facial nerve. The aim of this review is to mention briefly the pathologies of the facial nerve.
