ABSTRACT
Digital dentistry has rapidly and fundamentally transformed contemporary oral healthcare services through the integration of advanced imaging systems, computeraided design and manufacturing (CAD/CAM), threedimensional (3D) printing, artificial intelligence (AI), and mobile health appli cations (mHealth Apps). These innovations streamline clinical workflows while enhancing diagnostic accuracy and patient comfort through technologies, such as digital impressions, remote imaging, and AIassisted analyses. A particularly significant development within this paradigm is the implementa tion of patientmonitoring and remotetracking systems that utilize sensorequipped devices, cloud based data management, and teledentistry platforms to provide continuous and personalized care.
Smart toothbrushes and intraoral devices enable the realtime monitoring of oral hygiene behaviors, dietary habits, and physiological parameters, thereby facilitating early diagnosis and timely interven tion. These technologies promote a proactive approach by prioritizing preventive strategies and risk assessments, thereby reducing the frequency of inoffice visits. In orthodontics, remote monitoring allows for effective tracking of teeth movement and clear aligner compliance, optimizing treatment ef ficiency, and improving patient outcomes. Similarly, in periodontology and pediatric dentistry, regular digital assessments contribute to the early detection of periodontal diseases and caries, particularly in highrisk populations such as diabetic patients and young children.
Teledentistry, when augmented by AIbased software and machine learning algorithms, enhances vir tual consultation processes by enabling early detection of lesions, caries, and periodontal patholo gies. Furthermore, mHealth apps provide educational resources, treatment reminders, and behavioral prompts to sustain patient engagement and adherence. Patient monitoring and remote tracking systems in digital dentistry have introduced a new era centered on personalized, efficient, and preventive care. The integration of technological solutions with clinical expertise not only elevates the quality of oral healthcare services but also expands access to comprehensive care for individuals with limited mobil ity or restricted access to dental facilities. Consequently, these innovations, regarded as significant ad vancements in modern dentistry, have contributed to improved patient outcomes and clinical efficacy.
