ABSTRACT
The transition process for transwomen is a complex and multifaceted journey that encompasses various forms of support, including psychological, social, hormonal, and surgical interventions. This intricate process is not merely about physical changes but also aims to address the emotional and social aspects of transitioning. The primary goal is to align an individual’s physical characteristics with their identified gender, thereby enhancing self-esteem, improving psychological well-being, and facilitating social integration. By achieving congruence between their physical appearance and gender identity, transwomen often experience a greater sense of inner peace and personal fulfillment. One of the critical components of this journey is facial feminization procedures, which have become indispensable for many transwomen. These procedures focus on modifying facial structures such as the forehead, chin, nose, lips, and eyebrows to create features that are traditionally associated with femininity. Minimally invasive techniques have made these interventions more accessible, with reduced recovery times and fewer complications when compared to surgery. The impact of these procedures extends beyond physical appearance, as they play a crucial role in boosting confidence, reducing gender dysphoria, and fostering a positive self-image. Plastic surgery and medical aesthetic procedures are invaluable tools in helping transwomen achieve alignment between their physical appearance and gender identity. These interventions contribute not only to enhancing outward appearance but also to improving overall psychological health and social adaptability. Transwomen who undergo these procedures often report higher levels of self-confidence and better integration into social and professional environments. A multidisciplinary approach is essential in planning and executing these treatments, as it ensures a holistic understanding of the individual’s needs. Such an approach incorporates the expertise of psychologists, endocrinologists, dermatologists and surgeons, providing comprehensive care that addresses the diverse aspects of the transition process. Ultimately, these treatments play a vital role in improving the quality of life for transwomen by supporting both their physical and emotional well-being.
