ABSTRACT
In this study, the industrial production of 201Tl radioisotope has been produced for the first time in Turkey and developed quality control tests of synthesized 201TlCl according to various Pharmacopoeias, especially to the Turkish Pharmacopoeia. The solid target covered with enriched 203Tl2O3 was bombarded with the proton beam produced by the cyclotron type accelerator system to produce 201Tl. The production of 201TlCl solution was carried out in the production hot cell. The 201TlCl solution was then divided into patient doses in the dispensing hot cell. 201TlCl radiopharmaceutical, which is used for the diagnosis of myocardial perfusion, breast cancer, heart and parathyroid diseases and imaging of tumours in various tissues and organs, was produced for the first time with national resources in Turkey and related quality control tests (radiochemical purity, radionuclidic purity, osmolarity, pH, sterility tests) were carried out at Turkish Atomic Energy Authority – Proton Accelerator Facility (TAEA-PAF).
