ABSTRACT
Risk is defined as ”a measure of the likelihood and severity of adverse effects”. Risk perception is a subjective judgment made by people about the characteristics and severity of a risk. According to The Triple Risk Perception Model, perceived risk is categorized into affective, experiential, and deliberative dimensions. Many factors affect risk perception, such as whether the exposure is voluntary or mandatory, whether the outcome is certain, the severity of the outcome, controllability, whether the risk is familiar or new. Risks in health institutions have been threatening employees, patients and visitors from past to present. As in every institution, healthcare organizations face risks and these risks need to be managed. Healthcare workers are exposed to various risks in the environments where they work. Occupational risk perception is shaped by the employee’s judgments about the work environment and risk perception is an essential concept for a safe working life.
