ABSTRACT
This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of schizotypal personality disorder (SPD) in terms of diagnosis, etiology, psychodynamic approaches, and clinical assessment processes. The historical development of SPD, its evolution within the DSM system, and the neurobiological and genetic factors, along with psychodynamic foundations, are discussed. The chapter emphasizes the role of early childhood experiences, defense mechanisms, and interpersonal relationships in understanding this disorder, while also shedding light on treatment approaches. The goal is to contribute to the development of more informed and effective interventions in clinical practice.
