ABSTRACT

Sexual health satisfaction is a complex and multifaceted issue for transgender women, influenced by biological, psychological, and social factors. Gender-affirming treatments, such as hormone therapy and surgeries, can significantly improve body alignment and alleviate gender dysphoria, thus contributing to sexual satisfaction. However, these interventions can also have complex effects on sexual function, including changes in libido, erectile function, and genital sensitivity. Psychosocial dimensions, including body image, stigmatization, discrimination, and relationship dynamics, play critical roles in shaping sexual experiences and overall sexual health perception. Access to psychosocial support services, open communication with partners, and building resilience are essential for overcoming challenges and increasing sexual satisfaction. Biological and physiological considerations, such as post-operative anatomical changes and hormonal effects on sexual function, require ongoing medical support and personalized care. Effective management strategies involve a holistic, multidisciplinary approach, including medical interventions, surgical follow-up, psychological support, education, and fostering communication skills. Despite progress in understanding the sexual health of transgender women, significant research gaps remain, particularly in long-term outcomes, the impact of psychosocial factors, and the development of inclusive interventions. Future research should prioritize diversity and inclusion to ensure that findings are applicable to the wider transgender population and contribute to evidence-based, affirming care practices.
