ABSTRACT
Hip arthroscopy is used in various hip pathologies such as labral tear, femuroacetabular impingement syndrome and loose body. Hip pathologies are frequently encountered in pediatric and adolescent age groups and the number of hip arthroscopies is increasing accordingly. Although hip arthroscopy is generally considered a safe and effective surgical technique, it has some complications, as in other surgeries. For the adult age group, complications such as neuropraxia, infection, haematoma, iatrogenic cartilage damage, hip subluxation and femoral neck fracture have been described. However, in pediatric patients, in addition to adult complications, proximal femoral physical damage, triradiate cartilage damage, growth disturbance and osteonecrosis can be seen. Also, ankle arthroscopy is an increasingly common surgical technique. The amount of complications increases with the increasing frequency of application.
