ABSTRACT
Telemedicine, at the intersection of medicine and information and communication technology, has significant potential to improve healthcare delivery by increasing access, quality, efficiency and cost-effectiveness. Telemedicine applications that can be used in hospitals now and in the future are shaped by both changes in the healthcare sector and technological developments. Telemedicine has many different application areas based on the use of technology to deliver healthcare services at a distance. These include remote diagnosis and treatment, patient monitoring, medical imaging, telesurgery, telepsychiatry, medical education, e-prescribing and e-pulse systems. All of the telemedicine services being implemented today and planned for the future can help make healthcare more efficient and ensure that patients receive better care.
