ABSTRACT
The asthma is becoming a significant global health burden and poses a significant economic burden. The identification of new causal pathways paves the way for more personalized approaches to the prevention and treatment of asthma and creates a real possibility for asthma cure. The asthma requires a multidisciplinary team approach in the management of the disease. Nurses play an important role in this team and provide much of the care the patient receives at the secondary level. In asthma management, relieving symptoms or keeping the disease under control, preventing acute attacks, reducing complications, thus increasing exercise tolerance and improving the quality of life are among the care practices provided by the nurse within the scope of secondary care. It is important to increase nurses’ knowledge and awareness about evidence-based and patient-centered care in secondary care. In this article, the roles of the nurse in secondary prevention of asthma are presented in the context of nursing practice.
