ABSTRACT
Ventricular Septal Defects (VSD) detected in adults are etiologically named under three main categories: congenital, developing after Myocardial Infraction (post-MI VSD), and iatrogenic and/or post-operative residual VSDs. Device-based transcatheter closure approaches, which started in the late 1980s, are becoming increasingly widespread with the technological development, operator experience and the increase in experienced centers. In this article, we tried to systematically summarize the indications, timing, technical approaches, factors affecting the success of the procedure and procedure-related complications of percutaneous device closure for VSDs detected in adulthood.
