ABSTRACT
The adoption of Ponseti’s serial stretching and casting method has revolutionized the treatment of children with clubfoot. Improved outcomes from non-surgical treatment have greatly reduced the need for early surgical correction of clubfoot, and in recent years surgery rates have fallen to a very low level, up to 2.5% in the best hands. The reason for the failure in manipulation and casting treatment is usually the surgeon’s lack of knowledge about the true kinematics and pathological anatomy of the deformity. As a result, these feet appear before us as unsuccessful treatment or complications. It is important to recognize and treat any complications that may occur before starting treatment. Complications that may occur after Ponseti method or surgical treatment are discussed in this section.
