Treatment Complications of Slipped Capital Femoral Epiphysis

ABSTRACT
Slipped capital femoral epiphysis (SCFE) is the most common hip disorder in the adolescent age group. Multifactorial problems are involved in the etiology of FBEC, which is seen as anterior and superior displacement of the femoral neck metaphysis on the epiphysis. The main purpose of FBEC treatment is stabilization of the femoral epiphysis and thus preventing the increase in the amount of displacement. The gold standard treatment method in FBEK is surgery. In-situ fixation is the most commonly preferred surgical method. All treatment methods have certain complications. Avascular necrosis, chondrolysis, femoroacetabular impingement, labral damage, implant-related complications, progression of deformity and growth arrest are the main complications. The aim of this review will be to provide detailed information about the treatment complications seen in FBEC and, if possible, what to do to prevent these complications.
