Özet
Tümöral hastalıkların tanısında altın standart yöntem histopatolojik incelemedir. Diğer yandan sitolojik
incelemeler, biyopsi yapılmasının güç olduğu bölgelerde yer alan tümörlerin teşhisinde, ameliyat öncesi
cerrahi tedavi tipinin belirlenmesinde ve tedaviden sonra nükslerin tespit edilmesinde oldukça önemlidir. Sitoloji sadece iyi huylu tümörleri teşhis etmek için değil, aynı zamanda derinin bazı malign tümörlerinin hızlı teşhisinde de kullanılabilir. Tümöral lezyonlardan elde edilen sitolojik materyallerin
mikroskobik değerlendirmesinde iki ana amaç bulunur: İyi ve kötü huylu deri tümörlerinin birbirlerinden ayırt edilmesi ve tümör hücrelerinin kökeninin tespit edilmesi.
