ABSTRACT

  • The increasing use of ultrasound and echocardiography in anesthesia practices significantly facilitates both diagnosis and treatment.
  • Access to anatomically vital structures has been made easier with ultrasound, providing significant guidance for simultaneous procedures. This situation significantly reduces the complication rates.
  • It is used in many procedures such as peripheral nerve block applications, central venous access, calculation of gastric residual volume, evaluation of the airway, imaging of lung parenchyma, and calculation of certain properties of vascular structures.
  • Intraoperative transesophageal echocardiography allows for real-time evaluation of the heart, especially in cardiac surgery.
  • It plays a critical role in the evaluation of ventricular functions, valve structures, and hemodynamic changes.
  • They can quickly identify unexpected situations encountered during surgery and guide the surgical team.
